Day 16 August 2011: Show Us How You Break The Rules

16 Aug 2011 12:00AM
We want to see how you've broken the photography guidelines to create an image that has far more impact. So show us how you've used blur, wonky horizons, movement and unusual compositions to create a more interesting shot.

If you're new to Photo Month you can find out more about it in the what is Photo Month forum.

Horizontal lines of discordant colours taken from an unnatural angle - giving impact (that was the idea anyway!)

Taken from the hip in a shopping mall, trying to represent the hustle & bustle of life. I think I have achieved this as the blurry figures portray.

I broke just about every rule there is to get this shot just about right. Centered the subject as it disappears into the horizon to add more impact, and blurred the people crossing the bridge to put a sense of motion into an otherwise very static architecture shot.

the 50/50 split was done to make the most of the reflection

Shenong Stream, a tributary of the Yangtse River. Again a 50/50 split to make the most of the reflection but also to give it an abstract feel
