Delay - Sony HX300

i have sony hx300

when i take a shot there is an irritating delay of 1 or more seconds, why is this and is there any way of getting rid of the delay

You could try double checking your shutter release setting to see if any delay is enabled.

Also it could be that the card you are using in your camera is not a 'fast' card. But it could also be that the card needs reformatting. The card should be reformatted IN CAMERA after each time you have downloaded your images to the computer. This clears the card and enables the camera to write the data much faster than having to search for space to write on.

my card says 90mb/s is that a fast card? what figure would i be looking out for if i want a really fast card.

i dont know how to reformat the card in the camera

Hi John, I think you are going to find your Sony HX300 deeply frustrating unless you sit down with a large glass or two of your favorite tipple and read the Instruction Manual from start to finish.
