Until now have used DNG format as it is the only one available on my K30. Now I also have a K5 which offers PEF as an alternative. Is there any advantage to using this format rather than DNG?

I've owned several Pentax DSLR's that shoot both versions of raw and I've yet to find any difference between DNG and PEF and only use DNG.

DNG files are universally accepted, whereas manufacturer specific raw files can potentially change and no longer be supported by third party software. I always use DNG, slightly reduced file size and no loss in quality.

Thanks for your comments. I will continue to use DNG.
