You can buy an 256GB SD card for £30 or less in the UK. There are even unbranded 1TB cards at that sort of price.

Sorry, should have added you can get an SD to Cfexpress adaptor for about £9. And you'll only need one of those.

So fill your boots, as they say! 😁

Are you sure you don't mean SD to CF?

Surely the CFexpress cards are designed to be more robust and have faster read & write speeds that an adapter would not duplicate.

I have had issues with micro sd cards in sd adapters so for me I will continue with the real thing

I thought CF is old technology and the latest SD cards are superior?

i think theres a bit of confusion here, its about putting a NVme SSD card into a CFexpress holder. Its nothing to do with a SD Card.Watch the vid it explains it all.

CF and CF Express are different things.

There's also SD Express. It's all becoming a bit confusing! 😱

Looks like the card speed war has taken over from the megapixel war.

For stills photography I wonder how much any of this matters? I can see that if you are shooting 8K video it might. My only device capable of that is my mobile phone - which doesn't take a card at all.

Surely an SD card in a CFExpress shaped holder is still an SD Card. Real CF Express cards are more expensive for a reason - they are faster and more reliable.

As an analogy, putting a Ford Fiesta engine in a Ferrari will not give Ferrari performance.

The question is what performance do you need for stills photography?

A 1959 Mini equivalent is probably sufficient!, 🤣

Another misunderstanding - it's not about putting an SD card in a CF Express case, it's putting an SSD in one.

I think we all realised the video was about that. But simply looking at simpler /cheaper - and (?) more reliable - options.

Completely OTT for stills photography but could (maybe) be relevant for shooting video with the Nikon Z9 which can do 8.3K at 60fps, as I understand it.

Better for stills photography when you can rattle off 20 fps at high resolution, my top end sd cards can’t get close to the cfexpress card especially buffering due to their fast read and write speeds
