Is it just me or are these really not very good?

She is obviously happy with them, otherwise their publication would never have been approved.

They do look a rather sub-par. But I expect she paid Paolo Roversi a lot to take them! 📸😊

I rather like them but as Malc has said, if she likes them and the photographer likes them, surely thats all that matters?

They aren't bad, and there are worse that get plenty of votes on here.
If she likes them, as has been said, then fair enough.
She likes photography herself so maybe some selfiesnext time Smile

I was thinking our own Colin along Shoreditch/Brick Lane

I think it is very easy to be overcritical. They weren't taken at her home and she may not have been feeling absolutely comfortable at the time. How many wedding photos are a complete disappoint to the bride and groom simply because of expectations and the situation at the time. I think they were actually very good and i am not sure that anyone who doesn't know her can actually judge unless you are aware of what she looks like in real life!

Fair points made but they do look a tad washed out. Not particularly flattering - especially as these are headed for the National Portrait Gallery.

Maybe she will do her own photos next time using the self-timer or a remote! 😀

That would be good.

Do you like the style, the ethereal quality of them. What are they saying? Here is a lady comfortable in herself and happy with her own image, relaxed, approachable and perhaps a real person not that different to us in her own mind. If that's what was envisioned then this to me hit the mark perfectly. Its not how I would have started but it may well be very much the image she wanted.
A quick google of Paolo Roversi's images shows he is not your average fashion photographer and really does great on eye contact - i think i like the bulk of his work. A new person to follow on Instagram Smile

I like the less saturated look.

Of course, the first thing a camera club judge would do is complain about the bit of her dress cropped on the left..

I really like these images of Kate. There's nothing pretentious or regally posed about them and I think the editing style really fits the look I would imagine she really wanted. She's shown as an elegant, mature woman in her own right and not the mumsy, wifey photos we normally see of her.

The thing that struck me is I'm not seeing much of Kew Gardens in the background. Presume there might be other photos that feature the location, but for those released it seems a shame to visit such an iconic location and not include it.
