You have to add the RIP into the cost of an Epson...you don't on a Canon.

Thank you for this generous offer. I'm thinking about going for an A2 print from an uncropped 20D file (which I have added a border to). If the printer is going to interpolate the file, would I be right in guessing I should save the file unsharpened?
