I noticed this vintage camera on display at the V&A yesterday but it didn't have an info tag with it. It's made by The Eastman Company - that's all the information available. Anyone know anything about it?

First model produced in 1890-1892, of the 5x7 format No. 5 Folding Kodak being equipped with Eastman's Sector Shutter. This example is equipped with an Eastman roll holder, permitting its use with roll film as well as plates. Approximately 4,900 No. 5 Folding Kodaks were produced from 1890 to 1897.

Thanks Dave. A good bit of detective work. It's a funny old design. :)
I wonder why they don't label all the old cameras on display at the museum. Perhaps I'll write to them with the suggestion. :)
