Adam Smith seems very appropriate to me - an economist on a bank note.

For some reason they seemed to think that the 150th anniversary of Elgar's birth should be commemorated by removing him from the 20 note. He does demonstrate that you don't have to be dead for 100 years before you're allowed on a bank note (Edward Elgar 1857 - 1934)

As funny as that is, that is the kind of politically correct stuff that is happening now. Though Adam Smith is a perfect choice I think.

Take the time magazine 'Person of the year' List. It was about people (good or bad) that made the most important news of the year. At first there were names like Stalin, Churchill, Hitler, Roosevelt, etc. And what was the latest one?

'You.'

Pathetic!

WTF has this got to do with PC, every time a new note is issued the person on the back changes.

actually the obverse of a note seems to be determined by how car park ticket payment machines read them - Queen on top (as it were!)

I'd just say that as Scotland has it's own notes, the picture should be of someone English. But then, as our government is basically Scottish, that'll not happen.
