I recently updated my bio info and the set questions start with 'who is your favourite photographer' and to my shame I don't know any to have a favourite. Still I guess we all start somewhere so that gave me the idea of having a thread where people can suggest photographers whose work they like/admire/emulate or just simply think offer something we can learn from to post names/links/etc.

I mean professionals BTW

same title not the same content - I had a quick squizz through and they are all focused on functions on EPZ - correct me if I am wrong.

As I do family portraits for a living, I look at other social portrait photographers sites. One of my favorite photographers is Henk Van Kooten. I just LOVE his stuff.

His website is here.

Henk Van Kooten did a seminar at the MPA School of Photography held in Durham Castle last September which was fantastic, a very humourous man and a thoroughly enjoyable seminar where he showcased some of his latest projects.

Ansel Adams - God almighty of landscape photography! I'm also a great admirer of Joe Cornish's work.

I have to agree - however I remember reading last year on another forum a female photographer who commented "yes, Ansell's work is OK - but wouldn't it have been so much better if he'd used colour"!!!!!!!!

So the question I have when I see these threads is am I in a minority in that I don't have favourite photographers on here or in the outside world.

I have people whose work I admire, but not necessarily everything that they have ever done. Also a lot is to do with appreciating their knowledge and application of technique rather than being a fan of the photographer.

I guess I'm the same with music, there's stuff I like listening to, but I own very few albums (or downloads) and rarely know who the artist is anyway.
