FINAL REMINDER ! Weekly Macro Challenge - ends 6pm Sunday 1 April - Buds and Shoots

1 Apr 2012 3:38PM
I'm relieved to see a couple of entries for this week's challenge, otherwise I'd have been stuck.

Anyway, come on folks, it's a lovely sunny calm afternoon for taking macro shots outside. Have a go...

It's a good job I'll be judging images, not captions... Grin

It's a shame these challenges finish at 6pm - just arrived back from a day out with plenty of images but too late to submit anything Sad

Sorry you missed out, Darran.

What does everyone think about changing the end time?

It's no problem, was actually nice to have some time out and look more closely at what is starting to grow - when you look closely there are a lot of interesting shapes textures and colours and if you wait till summer you realise how much of this you will miss.
Maybe it should finish at 2300hrs gmt gives people time to get back from a day out etc

That would definitely work for time I have had recently Wink However would probably mean judging and setting a new theme would roll over to Monday, would it cause people a problem to possibly loose Monday from a day to start the challenge?

Good idea to have a later finish time. I had a potential contribution but didn't get home til after 7pm. People could get up 5 mins.earlier on Monday morning to log in if they're keen not to lose a day of macroing (a word not yet in the OED!)

I think the problem however is a late finish is that the judge and winner both need to be online at that time to choose the winner and set the next challenge otherwise both of those get delayed till the Monday.

Alternatively the judge could set the challenge for the week after, that way both judging and challenge setting times are not critical but it starts to get too complicated Wink

Is Sunday really the best finish time for everyone? Something like a Tuesday or Wednesday would give the weekenders an evening after the weekend to process and upload whilst not really taking anything away from those that have time to do it all mid-week.

A weekday finish could get over the problem of bank holiday finishes, when many people are away. One reason for the lack of entries this time may be that people were relectant to enter in case they won, and would be away on Sunday with it being a bank holiday weekend. This would mean that one couldn't set a new challenge unless they had wi-fi and a device with them. How about suggesting in the comments section a weekday finish?
