I have a 2tb USB 2 thumb drive which I will use to store my photographs and home videos as my belt and braces way of ensuring that I will always have ‘them’ saved in several types of media and locations.

Although I have started I have run into a few problems:-
I was hoping to download large amounts a time, but error messes came up randomly about things like can’t open or other errors, so I really have to attend to be able to respond to the messages.

However, someone suggested formatting the drive differently, I had a look and there are a few options.
File System – NTFS or exFAT (Default)
Allocation of Unit Size – 128KB increasing to 32768KB doubling each step at a time.
Any advice? As it doesn’t mean a lot to me.
Thanks for looking

exFAT is usefull if you are going to be using it on a MAC and Windows 10. otherwise NTFS should be the setting you use.

Umberto, thanks for that, I'm using Windows 10 and the USB stick is set up for exFAT.
Any idea why there are a range of values for the 'allocation size' and which would be the best option?
Thanks
