I would like to purchase a new FTP uploading prog for my Website, I did use Leech, but would anyone recommend better?

Plenty of fairly good freeware I would have thought

Filezilla is meant to be ok

here

I don't use it because I use the one built in Dreamweaver.

I've always used WS_FTP. I'm still using an earlier version which was free but I see they are now charging for the home version.

However, if you are using Windows XP there is no reason to use an ftp program at all. Just open Windows Explorer and type in the URL address..

ftp://your-domain.name

then you can drag and drop just the same as if it was on your hard drive.

The first time you try to connect it will ask for your user name and password then you can elect to save the password. Once it's logged on add it to your favourites and the next time it's just a case of clicking on it.

Note: no 'www'

Obvious question, but what is wrong with Leech ? I have used it for years and had no problems with it.

I use Cute FTP and have been doing for years. Is (or was) the 'industry standard' I was led to believe.

Works fine for me anyway.

I've recently made the switch to FireFTP, which is a free FTP plugin for the Firefox browser. Certainly worth a look...

I've always used Terrapin for my site, no complaints & easy to use (needs to be for me!!)

I've been using Nico's Commander for years, originally bought it for file manager front end. Has two windows and you can compare details of two versions of a file. Then I found out that it could do the FTP very easily. I now manage five domains with it. I would have tried some of the freebies but there didn't seem any point as I have free updates for life. Damn nice fellow, Nico.
