What type of photography are you wanting the camera for??????

Just normal stuff- like my Babies and for use on holidays although I love taking pictures. I have a kodak dc3400, which I'm now finding far too slow at catching elusive smiles from the kids. Also I'm sick of blurred pictures. So I really just want to upgrade. I suppose I would consider other models its just that I've read good stuff about the s602 . Thanks

You cant go really wrong with the 602 superb camera for the money, and it has enougth capabilties to get you really intrested in exploring photography when away from full auto mode.

I have used the fuji, but much prefer the nikon 5000 and it comes in at 5mp where as the fuji is 3mp, also you can add an optional wide angle lens 19mm wow for just over a 100.
I think the nikon is about in your price range now as they have dropped a lot in value recently.

The S602Z is quite slick at catching smiles, is ready for the next pic before you know it.

It is at a good price if ou look around.

I ordered the Kodak 6490 just before Christmas, while it's design and build are excellent, I found that it had a serious exposure problems when shooting indoors at night using the built in flash, images came out over processed and colours looked very artificial, I think the auto white balance does not work very well under these light conditions but then the camera does not have a manual while balance setting.
I returned it and ordered the s602 from Amazon for 320, while it has a smaller zoom and less resolution, images are much much better, colours are very natural, red eye is non existent on this camera, it has a hot shoe(kodak has a flash synch socket but no hot shoe) and it has all the manual settings that you need, I think that the s602 is a much better camera than the kodak 6490 and it is definitley a bargain at this price.

I have owned a Fuji 602 for just over a year and I have been delighted with its performance. All the SLR features you will need, plus auto modes, there is not much to fault with this camera.

cheers

I've constantly rave about my 602z, which I've had for the last year and like guzman paid more back then - about 650 I think plus 150 for a microdrive. But even then I got it cheaper than the rrp of 800 just for the camera!

Excellent camera and at Amazons price I'd think about getting another as a backup / spare if I wasn't looking at getting the pentax d-ist. Suppose no ones seen a REALLY good offer on that?
