Thought provoking? Like, what did the runners-up think?

Its a 'face palm' moment. What in god's name were the other entries like? This would have been sent to my trash bin without a second thought. I'd love to read the 'art bollox' that accompanied the image and the justification from the judges for awarding it.

Thought provoking...as in what provoked them into thinking this was a winner?
If the other entries were worse than this, then they should have recorded 2016 as a 'no winner called' year.

Um - why, indeed. How can you not notice such a dirty lens? Was it a winner of the "how not to do it" class?

Does nothing for me and reminds me of my own from from circa 1969.

But if you look at the photographic art world, you'll find it's very much from the "how to do it" class of bang on point.

"The winner is Gemma Astbury, of Norwich University of the Arts, she wins the title of 'Fujifilm Student Photographer of the Year 2016' .

The winning image ‘Happisburgh Fences’ was shot on Fujichrome Vevia 100 transparency film and cross processed, creating “a dreamlike haze with the rocks standing like a wall between the audience and the sea”, according to Gemma."

From Pete's link, so now you know why. I always knew there was something about film ............ Tongue
