I am not sure if I have done something with the settings.
Camera will take photo as soon as I press shutter button.
I disabled some features as the flash would not work.
Also I have i- auto enabled?
Would it be better to re- set camera to factory settings, then go from there?
Am a novice with this fz1000.

Hi. I own the FZ45. I am getting a bit confused by your question. Don't you want to have the picture immediately taken when you fire the shutter?

I too was confused by this question as I thought that was the point of pressing the shutter button - to take a picture before it all went away - the folk lost their smile, the bird flew past and the wave finished exploding on the rock!

Do you mean that the camera does not lock focus before it takes a picture?

Here is something I found doing a web search:

It seems that on some cameras, the shutter button locks "exposure only" when depressed half way. To simultaneously lock focus, the "Shutter AF" selection must be turned ON in the Custom menu. The AF/AE LOCK button, which can be set to lock AF, AE or both, is not conveniently placed, and can be hard to find when my attention is focused through the viewfinder and with one finger on the shutter button.

What I meant was with other cameras you half press shutter button to focus, then you fully press button. This also enables you to move camera slightly to another subject nearby and press shutter button and will be in focus.
I just slightly press and it takes the photo.
Sorry if pist was ambiguous.

If you have the settings on the camera set to automatic focus the half press on a shutter button is voided. Check the menu and disable 'automatic focus' if you want time to refocus the shot. However you should still be able to re-focus - just don't press the shutter until your image is framed and you are happy.

Gotcha! I know about that! Look at the top plate. It has a small button which says "Focus". That focuses the camera. At the back on the right top there is a button for selecting Manual or Auto Focus.

FZ 1000
Thank you all for your suggestions.
Buy following the CUSTOM menu as suggested to:
"Half press release" I set it to OFF, so now I half press to focus which for a dinasour like me is great as this is how most of my cameras work!

Brilliant. It was always going to be something as simple as that, but if you don't know where to find it the menus can be a minefield. Smile
