Getting older, but not wiser?

For the last few months, I have been very concerned that my Olympus EM-5 , with battery grip fitted, has been going flat overnight.
I did everything to cure the problem, but from the lack of information, this is extraordinarily rare . I got so fed up, that I removed the battery grip and just used the single battery in camera and the problem disappeared.
Recently I needed to use a Tripod, and, as only with the grip fitted, can you change batteries or use the mains adaptor when using a Tripod.
I refitted it to the camera, and plugged the mains adapter in, and it didn't register in camera.
The battery grip for the EM-5 is in two parts, and I noticed that one of the aligning pins was not fully in so tightened up.
It would only go so far but not seat properly, so I dismantled the two parts and found ???????????

Olympus, very sensibly, fit a small ,flat, rubber cover over the contact points, and it was still in place, removed it and put it in the storage space in the grip, Now been 4 days and the camera is still shooting with the grip fitted, both with batteries and on mains.
Problem solved and my Red Face is not entirely due to the present high temperatures
Very interested to hear if I am the only one who does such silly things ?
