Grey Heron / Great Blue Heron

I was asked a question on one of my pictures that I've been trying to answer but cannot find any infomation to prove it one way or the other. Basically the question is are the Grey Heron and the Great Blue Heron exactly the same bird with different name.

Thanks in advance if anyone can answer this.

The Blue is Ardea herodias, while the Grey is Ardea Cinerea....so my guess is they can't be.

The Great Blue Heron (Americas) forms a subspecies with the Grey Heron (Europe/Africa) as decribed on:

Herons
