Help.. processing an infrared image

I've just got a cokin IR filter, I'm having trouble getting the green foliage to turn out white, I've tried a load of tutorials which give pretty similar advice, I've switched the red and blue channels, taken the shot with custom WB set using grass with and without the filter attached and I still cant get the results I've seen on here, any ideas on what I'm missing?

What camera are you using? There is a fairly dated list of IR sensitive cameras here

The filter in front of the sensor will block IR on most digital cameras.

I use a Nikon D100 for IR, to white balance I did a preset WB on the sky with the filter in place and have left it like that ever since.

It is something that needs a lot of experimentation - you have to learn when it is going to work and when it isn't - there's a whole new set of rules to learn.

Thanks Keith, I've tried it on my Canon 40d and my wifes Fuji S5, the test using the tv remote says the S5 is more sensitive but haven't managed to take it to try it on a real subject yet. Will keep at it.
