When you join the army you swear allegiance to the Queen - it's about time we swore allegiance to the Gurkhas.

Just another example of the madness of the government. They turn their backs on a nation of professional soldiers after they have spent in most cases not only a lifetime in the service of the British crown, but many generations of lifetimes. In times of trouble we not only welcomed them into the service of the British army, we actively sought their help.
The government and their mandarins should hang their heads in shame.
This should be made a very hot political debate.

I fully appreciate that Jase started this thread but I would take the moment to say thank you on a personal level for throwing your support behind this.

I have had the pleasure of working with these wonderful and gentle people - who have an undying commitment to the British Monarchy - and when placed in a combat situation, are are amongst the most feared warrior-race on the planet.

So - why does our Government treat them in such a second-rate manner?

Sorry folks - getting a bit passionate here; having stood at the top of the steps of an RAF transport aircraft at Kathmandu Airport and looked down at the dozens and dozens of little children pushing and fighting to be at the very bottom of those steps because they know we were going to give them warm jackets to wear over their ragged shirts - which was all they were wearing - kinda brings this home for me.

More votes please...

.........amongst the most feared warrior-race on the planet.

Let's get them patrolling the streets, that'll put the wind up the hoodies.

Alternatively they can work as traffic wardens - here's 50 jobs for them [link=amongst the most feared warrior-race on the planet.]link[/link]

.....just backs up earlier comments about letting everyone else in except those who deserve.
