No, this isn't a get rich quick idea or "opportunity", but something I suddenly thought of while in Ireland - and wish I had done something about it then.

If someone offers to take your photo (providing they don't run away with your camera) then offer to take theirs even if they don't have one. Then you give them a business card (doesn't cost much to have some printed) and say to them if they would like a copy of the shot to contact you.

When/if they contact you send them a "free" (just request the postage when they intially contact you) 6x4" shot. Say to them you can provide extra copies and larger prints but these will cost a bit - even if you just want to charge for the materials.

You never know you might get a few commissions from it as well.

To give you the background a young woman offered to take our photo with our camera and it was only after she had left with her little boy that I thought "If only I had offered to take a few shots of her with her child and given her a card..."

Always worth a try. If they don't contact you then you've only lost the cost of the printing of the cards.

Ashley,

Give over. Unless you get a monkey it will never work.

I'll try that next time some tourist comes up to me in London... 'Yes, I'll take your photo, but wouldn't it be much better if I used mine, and I'll only charge you a tenner...'

...but if you trained the monkey to take the photos then it might....(I god! I've been out in the sun too long today).

can you get monkeys from 7 day shop?

how does the postman get the monkey through the letterbox, or does he leave it with a neighbour?

have you allowed for feeding the monkey - going to hit your overheads.........

if the monkey was more than 18, would 7 day shop dispatch it in bits?

...thinking about this idea a bit more, there are practical reasons too for training the monkey to do the photography (and PS if you buy the deluxe version).

I find it very difficult to operate the camera and wear the advertising boards at the same time (plays hell with my back).

there is a danger that if you gave a monkey a digital camera it may start "chimping"

i'll get my coat while the tumbleweed blows thru'
