I've just bitten the bullet and bought myself a Canon 1D MkIII, I've been thinking and worrying about it for ages. But today in Jacobs in Leicester, I did it. Managed to get a free spare battery as well, which was nice.
Anyway, very excited, so wanted to share, hope you don't mind Smile
Just waiting for the batteries to charge now so I can play.

Take 10 hours to charge up - so you'll have to wait until tomorrow to play!

Read the manual!

What is wrong with you? No one reads the manual. That is what the forum is for...

"I just bought a 1DmkIII and I can't find the card slot"
"I just bought a 1DmkIII and I'm confused by all the new menu options"
"I just bought a 1DmkIII what AF settings would you recommend for photographing cycling events"

So they've fixed all the bugs now then?

Enjoy the new toy, don't worry they are all fixed now. Been shooting footy this afternoon with a pair of them. 1200 shots between them and I can count the amount of out of focus ones on my fingers!

Thanks Sam, that sounds great. I'm going to drag the whippets out into the park later to give it a good try with them running round and I've got a Time Trial booked next Saturday with about 120 riders, so can give it a real try out.

Good purchase, enjoy.

Some great cycling shots on your website, are you / have you been involved or competitive in cycling yourself? I used to race Cross Country MTB in Summer & Cyclo X races in the Winter, a spinal injury caused by a crash at Notts & Derby league race in Sherwood Forest in 1997 put an end to it all, unfortunately.

Look forward to seeing photo's from the D1mk.3 soon

Thank you. D3!!! Canon for me Smile

Smitbar - Yes, don't race myself, just bike to work, but hubby races for the 45 Road Club and we've been members for about 20 years. Went out to a cyclo x last year, great racing. Sorry to hear about your injury.
