I need a Studio set up but don't know where to start!! Boo

Hellooooooo
I'm a beginner just starting out, done a few weddings and band stuff and acovered a few events but I've got a friend who wants some studio shots for a hair competition,
I have a Nikon D80 and Juat want something simple secondhand for about £400.00 or less.
have been looking at studio flashes soft boxes, constant lighting and dont know what combination of lights to get for a safe bet with the option of shooting some real arty stuff too!!
Can anyone help my poor lost studio lighting sole??
Cheers
Brendon

Have a word with Danny he will sort you out.

there are plenty of basic lighting kits available that come with a couple of lights / stands / brollies / softboxes etc ... for about the £400 mark .... most will do the job if you know how to use them,
we did a feature for DSLR mag recently where we experimented with different lights and the effects they could give ... we even tried using a £10 halogen builders light with a white btolly placed in front of it and got some nice results!
... the truth is, the creativity comes from your imagination not the amount you spend on your kit
good luck
