I have a Moth and Butterfly that need a confirmation ID
The First I believe may be a Privet Hawk Moth...It is a tired specimen and taken with my camera phone.

The Butterfly I am thinking is a White Letter Hairstreak and again was a little tired as he climbed onto my finger quite happily...Taken again with my camera phone

I have one more ask.....
What are the best reference Guides (Bibles) for UK Butterflies, Moths, Dragons and Damsels.....I have a budget of about £90 so I really do want excellent reference books.
Thanks All....Paul

A very battered and worn Privet Hawkmoth by the looks of things, a better specimen can be found in my p/f if your interested, and you're right with the White Letter Hairstreak.
Books wise I'd recommend as a starters:
Concise Guide to the Moths of Great Britain and Ireland by Martn Townsend and Paul Waring. ISBN 978-0-953199-6-5 £12-95
Collins Field Guide to Butterflies, Britain and Europe, ISBN 0-00-718991-5 £25-00
Field Guide to the Dragonflies and Damselflies of Great Britain and Ireland by Steve Brooks, ISBN 0-953-13990-5 £18-95
Collins Complete Guide to British Wildlife by Paul Sterry, ISBN0-00-220071-6 £14-99
They're all good starters and would enable you to identify most things, I have a whole load more books on moths but these are really expensive and very specialist concerning micro moths.....
