Is your local shop still accepting cash?

the shops around here...Co-op, Tesco, Waitrose etc. still seem to accept cash, with no insistence on cards. I’ve been using “contactless” card payment for ages now anyway, especially useful in current circumstances..no need to touch anything..
But..our local Chinese take-away has, for years, and still now, only works in cash...guess they don’t want the bank’s charges for transactions using cards..
Still think “cash” has its place though, pound coin for a trolley..(okay, you can get a mock coin I guess..). Personal tips for food delivery folk, restaurant staff, money in greeting cards for kids etc..
My “conspiracy” fear, is that if such matters become totally computerised, we’re in “their” total control..

I'm glad to say most of our local shops still accept cash, maybe something to do with the fact in our town we have one of the highest percentage of "olds" in the UK?
Personally the idea of a cashless society worries me a lot, for a variety of reasons, technical, there are already too many soft and hardware glitches disabling access to bank accounts and other on-line services, the right to anonymity, once everything is cashless we will all leave an electronic trail for all transactions, allowing the government to bring in taxation at point of use and scammers and the like to track our movement / steal our electronic money and worst of all, for me and money will cease to have a stable value, governments, banks etc being able to devalue at a push of a button.
My question is not "am I paranoid" but "am I paranoid enough" - I don't trust any of them!
