Java or not?
I keep getting a prompt on my computer (using Windows 10) that there is a later version of Java and that I should update or delete my old version. When I click on the message it just goes away with no link to an update.
Is Java necessary? I've read on various websites that it's not any use these days and could even be a security threat. Does anyone have any advice please? Should I update or just delete? Will anything on my computer stop working if I do delete it?

I got that message too and like yourself, I wasn't sure what to make of it.
Looking it up, it appeared that Java's not really relevant any more so I deleted it from my machine; I had to look to see if it was there in the first place and so far, that was about two weeks ago, nothing's gone wrong or stopped working and that prompt hasn't reappeared.

There is something at the back of my mind to do with Adobe - I know that Adobe Air uses it but for the life of me I cannot recall why I need Adobe Air. Java doesn't work on my laptop as I use Firefox as a browser and it is unable to install with Firefox. (Someone will now pop up to tell me that I am wrong but I assure I have tried several times when Adobe Air was needed and I was unable to install and the reason was 'Firefox'). I have not missed it!!
