Hi Everyone,

Well, the inevitable has happened and here in the UK we are locked down for another 3 weeks.

I hope you're all doing ok - and keeping busy during this difficult time.

The weather has been glorious for the majority of the week, and hopefully there will still be some sun this weekend. So I thought, why not have a look for insect life in your garden or on your daily walk for this weekend's challenge? Seen a pretty butterfly, or a bee gathering pollen? Take your best snap and share it with us here - just for fun.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Probably a Incurvaria masculella leaf mining micro moth that likes Birch, Hazel and Apple and usually lives in woodland.

The Woodlouse and the Ant had a race - well after i lifted a stone slab. Neither seemed to mind the other.

A Butterfly stopped long enough for a snap whilst on my walk yesterday.31743_1587158995.jpg

And I witnessed the 'birth' of a Mason Bee from my bee hotel Smile

I'm envious of your Mason bee emergence image, one I'm still missing from my records Smile

I was rather chuffed with that - the house is by the garage side door and I always check it when I'm passing - luck was on my side that day!

Ours is on the side of my wife's studio, plenty of shots of the mason bees flying in and exploring but no eggs yet.

Maybe too early as its the first year they seem to have spotted it

Certainly I have plenty investigating the old houses ie. the ones currently 'hatching' and the new one I have a couple of feet away. The two old ones I kept in the garage over winter and brought them out about 3 weeks ago and it wasn't long before the new-bees started exiting Smile

Apparently they don't start hatching until the temperature is a fairly consistent 12 degrees and keeping them in the garage kept them warm and dry for the winter Smile
