this might sound a bit odd but i am very confused and need your help.
do kingfishers also nest in trees?
a pair of kingfishers nested on my local river this year and their nest are in trees and i am convinced it is their nest as a) when thee adults approached it they would start clicking and b) when the juniors fledged they hung around there.
so i have no idea what is going on.
any help is appreciated.

No, Kingfishers don't nest in trees. They nest in burrows in a sandy bank or a riverside bank.
They do make a lot of noise for a variety of reasons and that's perfectly normal, whether it's near the nest, or away from it.

The elephant is a wonderful bird,
it flits from bough to bough.
It makes its nest in a rhubarb tree
and whistles like a cow.
