Laptops/ Windows Vista & Windows 7. External SSD - any adavantage ?
I use a Windows Vista laptop, and also a Windows 7 laptop. Both are working quite well, although at time they can be a bit slow. In this week's ComputerActive Magazine they have a review of an external SSD - the PNY Pro Elite 1TB USB 3.1 Gen 2.
Would using/connecting such an SSD to both laptops (separately of course) produce any benefits ?
From the review of this SSD in the magazine, it is compatible with Windows XP and later. !!
Any advice re this matter would be greatly appreciated. Would it speed up either laptop ? etc., etc..

My laptop, a Lenovo Yoga 520, is a 128Gb SSD and I have two external drives, taken out of my previous laptops and put in external cases, and a assortment of SD cards. These are duplicate drives of all images, music and docs.
I keep very little of the drive and have only around 40Gb used.
Startup is quick, programs run well and all my 'stuff' is backed up.
For processing images I load files onto the drive, or run from SD cards taken from camera.
When I use my wifes Laptop, with an old HDD drive, it's just so slow now....

Thanks both for your interest and advice. Not being too tech savvy, I just thought that connecting such an SSD to the laptop would be a 'booster'. However, searching the web today, and looking at some videos re this matter, it seems as though one must transfer/"migrate" the laptop's operating system onto the SSD, THEN, removing the original drive from the laptop, and replacing into the laptop the SSD. WAY BEYOND ME !
