can any tell me if it mack any differnts if you have got a old film lens on a new digital camra

If your lens will physically fit (Nikon for example) then it will almost certainly work but won't provide all the functionality that a lens designed for a digital camera will provide.

I am using a Nikkor 60mm macro designed for a 35mm on my digital and it delivers excellent results.

Just to add to what digi has said.
Providing the lens fits the camera body you will possibly need to set aperture and shutter speed via the lens and also focus manually.
