Possibly there are more convenient stores in N America.

I really wanted the 70-300mm VR Nikon since it first was released. Got it last year, and it was the most disappointing lens I've ever owned. Average IQ from 70-210mm, poor beyond that. Also, I was very disappointed with the VR on that lens. I've had Nikon lenses before with VR, most notably the original Nikon 80-400mm, and thought they were great; with the 70-300, I got better results with it turned off. Save your money and buy a Nikon 18-200mm VR, 55-200mm VR, 55-300mm VR, and save up for a Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro for portrait; they sell for between $200 and $250, and are highly regarded worldwide. My favourite Canadian supplier is Henry's in Mississauga. I would shop for used. Henry's will give you a warranty, and I've purchased dozens of items, lenses, cameras, etc., from them, and everything has always been better than described. That 70-300mm VR Nikon seems to be hit and miss, and according to the exhaustive research I did, it's mostly miss; it certainly was for me.

Hmmm.....that is very interesting. I guess more research needed. I also like Henry's (Barrie though)

I've only ever shopped at Henry's on ebay; I tried their store online, and the prices weren't that good.
