Lens upgrade?

Morning all,I am considering a change of lens.I have an EOS 60d and 17-55 f2.8 lens. It's a combination that I love and accounts for 90% of my shots. But I find that the reach of this lens is a little short for a walk around lens.I don't shoot any particular style of photography, just what I tend to like at the time.
I am considering trading in the 17-55 and getting the ef 24-105 f4l and the sigma 10-20 as these will cover the existing range and extend out to 168(taking the crop factor into account).
I am aware of the qualities of the Sigma but have no real info on the performance of the 24-105 on a 60d?
I would appreciate any comments or thoughts on the upgrade or the performance of the 24-105 on the 60d.

Generally such a lens will perform even better on a 60D than on a 1D. This is because you lose the very edges of the image you lose the part where problems occur most often, distortion, drop off in sharpness, etc.

Don't have any worries about how it will perform on your camera, it's an excellent lens. The wide angle Sigma is also very good.

You will have to take both out with you because you'll come across situations where the 24 just isn't wide enough on the crop camera.

Have you considered the EF-S 15-85 as an alternative to the 24-105? It's a really good walk around lens, and for about half the price of the Sigma /L combo you get most of the range in one lens. Or you could buy the Sigma as well for not very much more than the 24-105 alone. Then maybe you don't need to sell the 17-55? You might regret doing so.

My first thoughts were the same as bainsy's - try the 15-85. If you use the constant f2.8 a lot then the f4 on the 24-105 may not suit you anyway. But if you can buy the 15-85 and keep the 17-55 you still have the option.

Thanks for the comments guys.Have to admit I would miss the constant f2.8 of the 17-55!
I normally take both lens on a shoot,so there is no problem with swapping a lens.
Would the image quality of the 15-85 be as good as the 24-105.... I have my doubts.

There is certainly som ediscussion! I googled 15-85 vs 24-105 and these are typical

Willyou miss the 15-24mm more than the 85-105? Choose your compromises.

I recently replaced my 18-135 with a 15-85. What a superb lens! Out of interest I hired a 24-105 last year when I had a 7D with a view to buying one. However I had to sell the 7d because of cash flow probs. I have got a 60d now so out of interest I took some shots in the same place as the 24-105.
It's very difficult to tell the difference!
