Hi all, has anyone had any feedback or used the marumi macro flash. Seems quite a bargain and i am considering buying one for my 40D.

I know it will not be up to the standard of a Canon unit, but maybe just maybe.......

To be continued..

Take care everyone.

I have got one - Nikon fit. There is no control on the unit apart from an on-off and a test button.
The max diameter aperture of the ringflash is 52mm although it is supplied with step-up rings up to67mm but if you put it on a 67mm diameter len you will get severe vignetting.
I have been using it on a Tamron 90mm macro lens which is 55mm diameter and there is no sign of vignetting.
The exposure seems okay - there is 1 pic in my portfolio taken using the ring flash. (I'll put up a portrait taken with it later this afternoon. )
The electrical contacts on the flash need carful positioning on my D70 - it dosent seem to always line up exactly with the hotshoe contacts.
Overall I think its ok for what it costs. If I were doing lots of macro I might nave spent more.

I bought one recently.

The hotshoe connector is very tacky, doesn't really feel that secure.

I haven't had a chance to test it properly yet but the odd shots I took seemed OK.

I agree with Andy, it's probably what you'd expect for the price but definitely not up to Canon standard. I bought it 'cause it was cheap. If I find I'm using it a lot I will p[robably trade up to Canon.
