Merry Jubilee, or Happy Jubilee.

What is the greeting for this occasion ? But an a more serious matter, where are all the street parties ? My kitchen maid has eloped with another Geordie. So, bliddy whaat ? I have no fish paste or other luxury items stored in my outside pantry for this weekends celebrations.. Are there any street parties within 100 miles of my home ? - because my helicopter has broken down, and the RollsRoyce is in for service.
Please let me know and send an invite, and I will attend with out fail.
N.B. No invites accepted from Norway, too far to travel, beer to expensive, and Saltireblue has problems of his own.
Best wishes to Mrs. Saltireblue, and her Mother.

Can't remember 2nd June, but I can remember about three or four days after the coronation. My mother and grandmother took me up to London from Southampton to see the Queen ride past in a procession, I have no idea of its purpose or destination. We sat for hours on a cold pavement and when she did pass by she wasn't wearing a crown. I was totally disgusted at this and refused to wave. My grandmother never forgave me.

I'm not interested in street parties, and although there will be numerous photo opportunities for photos in London, I'll not be going along. I did it during the diamond jubilee, so can't see much difference for this one.
However, I'm not anti-monarchist. I love the history of the leading family of our island, as we as ordinary people love our own individual history. I've discovered mine going back to the 1700s; imagine yours going back for thousands of years. Amazing. Just wish I had the jewels to go with it.
I've no memory of the crowning, but I suppose I was there around that time. I hope everyone has a good time. God knows we need it.

My daughter and I are going to the Tower on Saturday for the 'Superbloom.'
I booked the tickets ages ago, not realising that it fell on this weekend, otherwise I'd have chosen another time.
As it is, I dare say there'll be plenty to photograph although I shall be staying well away from the Mall and Buckingham Palace.

I remember June 1953. It was a very miserable day but I sat with most of my family - aunts, cousins, Mum, me watching the Coronation on the Television - which belonged to one of my aunt's - black and white and small screen but I can remember the actual crowning and the bit where she was hidden from view, which to my young mind, seemed very odd! My aunt had alaid on a lunch of sandwiches and sausage rolls - all a very memorable day. And I do also remember at some time afterward we had a street party, which was great fun and involved some dancing in the street by the adults later on.
