MicroSD cards with adaptors - fast enough for normal SD camera use?

Have i been being a size snob? I've previously looked as MicroSD cards as the poor slow cousin of normal SD cards.
But looking at the one from Samsung in today's prize draw it seems is just as fast and useful as its full size cousin.
Its got "superfast read & write speeds up to 100 MB/s & 90 MB/s " and is waterproof etc.

Are there any downsides to using MicroSD with an adaptor?

the micro SD ones are pretty quick and I can easily view them on my tablet, still use standard sizes SD cards but for general shooting they are pretty good. only downside is that they are quite small and easily lost in a bag or pocket

The microSD card I won in an epz Christmas draw (must be a couple of years ago) works fine. Cerainly as fast as spme of my older CF cards and as Darren says fine for most shooting.

I have used Micro SD card with SD adaptor in my Sony NEX5R and it works fine for stills and video.
I know this is an old camera now, however 1080p still requires decent write speed.
