My Pentax K30 is not talking to my Miranda PKA lens . I always understood Pentax cameras were backward compatible with all PK lenses. Anyone have any ideas?

I've never had a problem with older PKA lenses on my Pentax DSLR's

Are the contacts on the lens clean?

Try turning the lens off of the A setting to see if it works in aperture priority mode.

The Miranda was not made by Pentax - and it is a brand name I have not seen for over 20 years.
It is not uncommon for "other brand" lenses to need a new chip to work with a newer camera body.
If this is the problem it is unlikely the Miranda can be updated to work with your current camera, though it might work with an older Pentax body.

Miranda never made any lenses. They were all rebranded. In fact if your lens is from the eighties it's likely one of Dixon's Cosinas.

Thanks your helpful comments! Cleaned the contacts (Thanks Ken) it now works. This is an old lens bought from Dicksons in 1988 and used on my Pentax P50. Really well made considering the price.
