I bought a Vivitar 285 which was very similar but was safe to use with a modern camera. I found it to be very useful and was my only flash for many decades. It was only two years ago that I bought a Canon Speedlight 430 EXii. This is much easier to use at least with a Canon DSLR. but I have now replaced that with a Sony ML and yet to consider buying a flash for it. I had various attachments and filters for the Vivitar which was a great piece of kit in its time and for long after.
