Nature Photo Nuts

Does youtube have enough photo tutorial videos? Well it does now.
Between my Iceland trips, I have teamed up with old friend and Nature photographer, Jason Gines. We have just released our first episode called "Birding in the Hide" which follows Jase into the Bird hide at Gosport Nature Reserve (Hants). This is just 1 mile from where I grew up in the 70s. We are hoping to produce a series of videos with an educational content for all levels of photographer.

Of course, we would love to hear your thoughts.

The youtube subtitles are ok and pick up most of what we are saying. Someone hard of hearing might think we are hunting the King of Asia!
Needing some love because we have 2 thumbs down so far. I am sure these are from people who are far more creative and know better, but it is heartbreaking after all the effort.
YouTube can be a brutal arena!

I viewed that video ( struggled to stay with it). Unfortunately I don't think the lengthy rambling conversations between the two of you in the hide worked.
The Blue tit image was more table, log, than bird, and the Great tit had no plumage detail in its white cheek patch. The camera/lens/ discussion how they were achieved seemed irrelevant as such.
So in all honesty I think a long time was spent talking about 2 very average images. Sorry.
I put this here as I would never comment on anything on YouTube.

Thanks Bri for your honest opinion. I do agree with much of what you say, but the idea is to focus on images, poor, great, or average with analysis of mistakes and suggestions for improving the shot. I was hoping that hearing what the photographer thought about composition, communication etc, plus a few techniques and suggestions for improvement would be an interesting recipe, maybe we need a bit more practice. The chat was actually much lengthier, but I managed to reduce it to 5 min per image. I guess, we have to make it snappier.
Just out of interest, would you have enjoyed it more or less without the chat section?

This is a difficult area to shine in as there are a lot of very well produced and presented offerings out there.
I thought the intro was offputting and silly.
Normally I would have switched off after the first 30 seconds but as you were asking for feedback decided to continue.
I agree with bricurtis but also appreciate the time and effort that goes in to the production.
My feedback would be,
Simplify and refine the intro as the first 30 seconds or so will determine if a viewer continues to watch.
cut down the banter and maybe do a (scripted) voiceover at relevant places after the video is shot.
Work on improving images before discussing gear and technique used.
Sorry if this sounds harsh but it`s just my opinion and hope this helps.
Best of luck with episode 2.
Regards
Bill

I also watched the video last night and concur with most of the comments above.
I think it needs to be clearer at the outset that it is more aimed at beginners than more experienced photographers.
I agree on the intro, a bit silly and too long.
Its a tough world on youtube with lots of high quality video production, good luck with the venture.
