Need lens recommendations for Sony/KM

Currently I have a KM 7d, which I am quite fond of. I have 2 lenses, a Quantaray 28-90 D and a Quantaray 70-300 LDO 1:4-5.6, and a Quantaray PZ-1 DSZ dual swivel zoom flash. I want to get the new Sony A700 (so I can use the KM as a back-up) in a month or so. I would like to eventually upgrade all of my glass, but my biggest concern is choosing an additional lens that would better suit my use. I mostly will be shooting weddings and portraits so I don't want to have to switch lenses often. What do you recommend? My budget is limited right now. Any reviews on the new Sony 16-105?

Anyone bought this lens since the OP's post? I'm thinking of upgrading to the a700 with the 16-105 lens, but have read mixed reviews about it.

There is a good comparison of a selection of lenses here , which includes the 16-105mm. In their conclusion they seemed to favour the 18-250mm or 16-80mm.

The A700 is incredible! I ended up getting the kit lens 18-70 and it's pretty decent. I also got the 50mm 1.4 and that almost never leaves my camera. It is tack sharp and very inexpensive. At some point I'd like to get the 18-250 and a few more primes. The flash is also so much more reliable than the one I had at the time of this post.

Thanks for the info. I currently have the 18-70 as it came with my KM 5D. I was hoping someone here would have used the 16-105. I like the idea of the slightly extra reach for shooting my brother's lotus from my dad's whilst on the move.
