Has anyone heard of any problems when deleting images on camera?
Specifically that additional images can also dissapear. I have been told by an experienced digital imager that there is a risk of images being lost.

Is this untrue?

I have never had it happen to me and I have deleted a lot of images in camera.

I've never heard of any such problems and I'm on my third digital camera. One of the main selling points of digital is to be able to check the image there and then and delete if it doesn't come up to scratch.

News to me. I always delete in camera, even after processing, never in PC.

I've never heard of it either. It might happen by accident if you have the display on multi-image view and get a bit carried away with your deletion.

But as a camera "fault"... neither I nor other users I know have come across this one.

I think this would most likely only happen if you delete by formatting the card in camera.

Have to agree with Dave on that, I've owned quite a few digital cameras and never experienced a lost image. I delete via my camera and my card reader. BTW,there is a program available for recovery of lost jpg images, "Media Recover" it's called, costs around 30 dollars, which is not excessive by many standards and has an excellent reputation. Google will turn up the URL.

Thanks everyone. i guess this story resulted from a single case, possibly faulty card or equipment.
