Any news at all from the EPZ team about the new Canon RP ????

From what I've seen it's going to be lighter & smaller than the R....& (more importantly) not
so damned expensive ?

Any info/photos would very welcome....I'm still slavering over the R, so the new RP version
could very well tick all my boxes.....can't wait !!!!!!!!!.WinkGrin

Just had a looksee at the details on "Petapixel", & ........Mmmm yummy !!!!!!

Want one already !!.....smallish, lightish, full-frame 26mgpx ?....Oooooooo !!.

Just hope the price is a bit more sensible than the 2400 of the R !WinkWinkGrin

Lusting for the EPZ review now....when you get your hands on one !!!!!

Canonrumors suggests $13-1500, 6dmk2 sensor. Very light. No top panel LCD display or function bar. Nethertheless a super FF entry camera body. I'm imagining a 700D with a FF Sensor. Shaking up the market!

Wait till Valentine's day.

Thanks again Stuart for the update !.......I thought for a minute that it was on
the shelf at Amazon; but clearly it's a 'preorder' ad. !!.....price not too bad though ??

The second price with the lens puts it beyond my finances...but I wouldn't want the
lens anyway.......I would use my existing 19-35, & 35-105 lenses via the adapter, which
covers 95% of my photography.....with a 90 macro & 80-200 for rare occasions !!.Smile

The more I see of this beauty, the more I salivate over this tasty morsel !!!!.GrinGrin

I know, i'm salivating too.

However, what does it really give you over your current camera.
For me (with a 6D mk1)
Pro's more focus points, and so i assume better/faster focusing, Eye focus, Silent, Lightweight, better lenses available at a cost.
Cons, No top LCD display. battery life for the evf?, actually spending the money.
Similar - the sensor may be a little better or a little worse for low light? -

ePhotozine - please lets see reviews not our guesses.

Stuart....I would agree with your sentiments....but for me......

a) I have a 5D, which is a handful sizewise & heavy....so reducing both the size
& weight to that of an APSC format camera (say the 600D ?) has to be a bonus ?

b)I would miss the top LCD panel, but I could live with that.....so a 600D with a 36x24mm
sensor, & 26mgp sounds almost too good, but is obviously true !

c)I also love the silent operation of a mirror-less shutter (my Samsung NX20 is silent) &
I'm quite happy using an EVF to view the scene, all the latest versions are impressive !

d)I always set my camera to focus using just the central focusing point, for speed & accuracy
so multiple focus points have no use in my type of photography (mainly landscape).

e)Finally, I'm not bothered by fast shooting rates or video, or multiple memory card slots,
it's all down to slow & steady with my type of stuff ??

It's each to their own I suppose; we all have different tastes & requirements, both in our
day to day lives, & with our photographic needs....I'm all for a steady almost laid-back
outlook !....."haste" isn't in my vocabulary !!.WinkGrinGrin

Dammit !!!....I've just drooled all over the keyboard, just thinking about an 'RP' !!BlushBlushBlushBlush

Keith -

- Totally with you on the weight factor. The reason I changed my 5Diii and all the L glass for Fuji.
- I too, thought I'd miss the lcd on top, but not at all. Very quickly got used to seeing all the info in the viewfinder.
- The shutter is almost silent even when on M. On ES it is totally undetectable - as you know - it is such a boon!
- Again, one point focusing is all I ever use
