well it was now or never, i had been thinking of buying a dslr for a few years........all i have to do now is learn how to use it :-s haha

Get out and use it, easiest way to learn what it can do. If you get really stuck, refer to the manual!

It's the manufacturer's opinion of how the camera should be operated.Wink

As a Nikon fan, I have to admit that what Nikon laughingly call a manual is worse than useless. In fact they are worse than worse than useless.

However, there are several excellent third party users' manuals available on Amazon as well as lot of decent video tuition on Youtoob.

Having said that, Nikon entry level dSLRs do tend to be highly intuitive in their use

Really? I've always thought the manuals really good. Using simple graphics to explain the menus and what each of the option variants do. If you need details about the EFFECT of using the different options, then that might be where the books come in - not everybody does and that would really complicate a manual.

What I can't figure is why the flash manual for the SB800/SB900 is twice as thick as the manual for the D3s Grin Grin
