It's been a busy few months - plenty of new cameras announced, and pre-announced, are you excited by the new cameras, or happy with your current camera?

New cameras recently announced (in no particular order):

Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III , 20mp Micro Four Thirds
Fujifilm X-Pro3 , 26mp APS-C, with sub-monitor, and "hidden" screen
Nikon Z50 , 20mp APS-C, Z-Mount camera
Canon EOS M200 , 24mp APS-C, entry level mirrorless
Fujifilm X-A7 , 24mp APS-C, entry level mirrorless
Sony Alpha A9 Mark II , 24mp professional camera, 20fps

And in "development" and pre-announced:
Nikon D6
Canon EOS 1DX Mark III

If we go back to August, there's also the Sony A6600 , A6100 , Panasonic Lumix S1H , Canon EOS 90D , and Canon EOS M6 Mark II.

We've also reviewed the 61mp (!) Sony Alpha A7R IV , and had a look at the unique Sigma fp.

What camera(s) interest you the most?

I bought my main camera new in January this year, (amateur use). I don't expect to change it for several years. I might look at buying a new lens.

I bought a new camera earlier in the year mainly because I needed to have far less weight so I went mirrorless. Doubt if I shall buy anything else for quite some time.

Neither happy with the old kit or excited about new models.
I was using 2 Panasonic GH1 cameras with 2 zooms. The GH1s are about 10 years old, and working OK, but bits were falling off and taped up.
I decided to get a GH3, and get a wide range zoom so as to only need one body, and also try a GX7 with a pancake lens as being more pocketable. The smaller lens I bought is also faster and better in low light, where I was previously using a cheap little CCTV lens.
As I rarely use my DSLR now, I've sold some lenses to offset the cost of the new(er) cameras.
So, I'm reasonably happy with what I've now got, which is 5 years old but new to me, although I could have probably carried on with the GH1s for a lot longer.

From a performance view my Canon 5D4 has all I need and I would never need to replace it unless it developed a fault. However, the weight of my equipment is an increasing issue so I will eventually buy something lighter. Given that new mirrorless cameras seem to be regularly released, I see no reason to rush into an early decision. My ideal solution would be same performance as my 5D4 with total weight of camera and lenses at less than half the current weight.

Our senses, bank balances, credit cards, handbags, purses and wallets are constantly assaulted with manufacturers’ exultations, assertions and endemic shiny box syndrome, in fact improvements today are in practise much more marginal than significant, we are lucky that present digital technology will fulfil the vast majority of our expectations.

However I am far more excited and interested in the infiltration of AI in our software, already I have experienced some amazing results from such and we are just at the beginning ... WOW!

Very happy with what I have now (Fuji X-T3) but am on the lookout for a second, identical used body to use at gigs, in order to not have to change lenses all the time.

The Canon R & RP tick my boxes !!!.....smaller & lighter than my 5D, & my lenses would
still fit (with the adapter )........just cannot justify the cost !!!!....dammit !!.Blush

I am interested - if a new product is right for me.

I tend to buy a new body (and sell an old one) about once ever 2 years.

I have a streak of neophobia so I tend to buy very good kit and use it until it no longer does what I need it to do.

The advantage is that I get to know my kit thoroughly.
