I'm fed up with trying to edit pictures on my small 15" monitor.

As it's January sale time, can anyone recommend a good screen for me? What size would you go for?

Are the expensive screens really that much better?

Thanks for your help!

I looked into this a few months back though in the end stuck with my 17" CRT. It seemd to me at the time though that any of the Dell UltraSharp range came highly recommended and at a reasonably reasonable price range. Sort of the middle ground between the cheaper Samsungs etc and the more pricey Eizos etc.

Have a browse through the threads on this link

Just before xmas I bought a 22" LG monitor for under 150. I cant believe the difference it makes when editing - there is so much room. www.aria.co.uk i got it from there - have a browse through. I think the Samsungs come highly recommended but there was no stock when I was looking.

Alison bought me a Dell 24" HD Widescreen, Model No.S2409W at just under 195 delivered. It's an absolute bargain. Superb quality and at 1960 x 1080 res there is loads of deskspace. But I know all graphics cards don't support that resolution. It has digital, vga and HDMI inputs, you could plug your X-Box 360 in or PS 3 and play the games at Full HD, 1060p, Or you can watch Sky HD or Blue Ray DVDs on it, But you would need external sound source.

There are quite a few reviews around on the net. If you are interested you need to keep an eye on Dell, it's not always listed and the price fluctuates! The day after we ordered it went up to ~240, but then dropped back down a couple of days later.

Like Nick I bought an LG 22" Monitor recently and I think it's superb. I looked at Samsung etc. but the feedback on LG's was excellent. I got mine for about 150 from ebuyer whose service was also first class.

I just recently bought an LG, 20" Flatron W2042S, 8000:1 Digital Fine Contrast, 4:3 wide, from Ebuyer.com, for 107.00 including delivery.

Before that I had a 17" TFT, this is much better for viewing photos and for working on in image packages.

Well there are a couple from HP that are set to knock the Dell 24" off its pedestal

Personally I'm going for the H-IPS screen of the first model Wink
