You might want to check out these websites: you can breakdown your visit into days and sections of NY to see what will be occuring at the time of your visit. a skating rink in Central Park - opens Monday, Oct. 18

Central Park - also has a small zoo skating rink opens Oct 9

You didn't mention where in NYC you will be staying. If it is in the Times Square area....I have stayed in Times Square until 1 or 2 in the morning shooting with no problem.
There is also a large internet cafe on 42nd Street near Port Authority if you need to stay connected to the web.

Just remember the closer you get to the elections, the more security you might encounter....and your bags might be searched at some museums and tourist attractions.

You might also want to check with your hotel as to if there are any Harlem/Jazz tours available.

Bus tours of New York City....check

If you have anyother questions, I will be more than willing to help.

Well thanks very much everyone for youre advice i really enjoyed New York, But unfortunatly i did not get enough time to do all the things that you all suggested,However i will be going back next October so i hope to go to many other places. I did do the Empire state building,Central Park, Grenwich Village,Times Squ and Statten Island and walked from the ferry to times Squ along Broadway.

In January i will be going to New orleans followed by Febuary in Orlando and Las Vegas in March i hear you say lucky you but its all hard work and god i am so suffering by jet lag.
