I have a new computer and have tried to get my old version of the Nik collection on it without success. I originally bought the software back in 2014 but it seems that you cannot now activate it now that it has been taken over by the new company. You have to buy the new version fo £135, I still have the older version on my old computer which runs Photoshop cs6. My new computer has Windows 10 and Adobecc installed, is there a way of removiing the Nik Collection from the old computer and installing it on the new one. before I get rid of it. I was given the Nik Siver Effects on a memory stick by a friend and while it installed on the computer Adobecc would not recognize it.

You could try copying the program on to a disc and then from there load it into the new computer, I am only making a suggestion as I have never tried this.

I think the old, free Nik Collection is still around, try here
It may well be the old one, I dowloaded from there ages ago.
There is a work around if it crashes, let me know or search the forums, the solution is there if you need it.

The other way is to copy the exe file onto a stick from your old computer and see what happens when you put iy onto your new one.

I've got the old Nik on here, installed from a copy of a now-very-old-but-still-working exe.
On the strength of that, I'd say that Chase's suggestion is the way to go.
I don't really use it a great deal but when I want it, it doesn't let me down.
I'm using Windows 11.

If it doesn’t automatically load into the Photoshop filters section the you will have to manually move the files inside the Nik application and put them into the filters section of photoshop.
I am unable to go further into the “how” as I use a Mac not a PC.
From memory, I copied all the different Sections of Nik and pasted into the relevant folder within Photoshop.

Be aware when you use the old Nik, it may crash your Photoshop, as I mentioned before, there is a really simple work around. Go into the forums here, search for “Nik” and just open the threads until you find my explanation from a few years ago….it works !

Try here

Copy; in fact, make a few copies and stash them somewhere, of the Nik folder into the 'Plug ins' folder in Photoshop.
You might need to open and close Photoshop a couple of times before they appear.

When I tried to open up the Nik Collection that I downloaded from the web all that was in the folder was a word document telling you how to install it on older versions of photoshop. I tried clicking on the try this that chase highlighted but it just took you to the DxO website where you can download a trial version of the lastest Nik Collection.

I will have to change to a new PC soon and not looking forward to dealing with such issues. I use the free version but did store the original download so may be able to retain Nik. I only use Silver Effex Pro but could live with topaz if I had to. No worries about losing Topaz as I have paid licenses. Of course, there are to extra Plug ins and software which I will have forgotten about some of which I would not miss but others I would.

How have others organised their change to a new PC?

That's not been my experience.
I don't know where, in your programme files, you looked for Nik but in case it helps, you'll find it in the plug-ins folder within Photoshop. It's also in the folder marked 'Google.' I'm not sure why; perhaps just because it's a 'Google' product. Anyway, although I'm sure it would work, that's not the one that you want.
Just copy and paste the Nik folder to somewhere safe and, as I said earlier, paste it again, into the plug-ins folder in your new Photoshop installation.
I've had to do that a number of times over the years and it's always worked for me.

Hi chase checked that link and found on the right. a panel with a windows executable file which downloaded the nik collection into google folder in programme files. I opened the folder selected the files and dragged them into the adobe plugins folder in photoshopcc. but when I opened up photoshop they are not in the plugins panel. If I click on the C drive icon and go to adobe then the plugins folder the nik collection files are all there.
