Nikon D70

I've had a D70 for 5 years now and still using it. The kit lens 18-70mm is superb.
Over the years I have invested in quality glass and have been so pleased with it overall.
Please take a look at my portfolio and judge the results.
After 5 years I am moving on to full frame but will still keep the d70 as back up.

had a used D70, now kaput. Well upset because I still prefer it to my D80 and Canon 1000D. Managed to sweet talk another body from a friend with 3 batts, 4 cards and numerous other bits and pieces for £100 ... over the moon but still feel guilty because it was such a bargain!
Lovely camera, wouldn't be without it (still haven't learnt to use it properly though
), very forgiving and I've only one lens that doesn't handle well on it. Enjoy!

the d70 is a terrific camera.....you will however have to learn to get the best from it as it is a major leap from most compact and ultra zoom consumer cameras, (though not classed as a pro camera)...I bought mine after two happy years with a Contax TVS digital which gave fabulous colour and contrast straight off the card....the d70 didnt at first then I realised I had to work a little harder in the pc ....I use my old AF Nikkor lenses and am pleased with the results...Stuart

When first introduced it cost almost as much as the current D300s current street price over £1,000.
At about £150 private sale or £175 with a shop warranty the price reflects it has been out of production a few years, and by modern standards the viewfinder is not good.
With a reasonable lens it can produce a good 16 inch print of a portrait type subject and a good 12 inch print of a detailed landscape.

They charged about $100.00 extra for the camera with the 18-70mm, which, at the time, was a steal. The lens sold separately for $500.00.
I would recommend the Nikon 70-300mm ED as an inexspensive great lens for long focal length. If you can't get an ED model, the G has the same optics, but plastic mount.

Because of medical problems I haven't been out with the camera for a while, and did sell of some of my lenses that I just didn't use, they were more weight to carry that I didn't need.
But I kept my D70 and the 18.70 lens, I still have my F80 I bought many years ago as well ...
I bought my D70 in Gran Caneria when you just couldn't get one over here, with that lens they were around £1,000 here in the U.k, I paid just over £700 for it with worldwide warranty and even registered it with Nikon here in the U.K
Anyway over the years I have thought about upgrading it to a newer camera, but recently got it out of it's case, charged the batteries and still works perfectly, don't see any need to upgrade and the lens is a cracker, only wished I had took it to Turkey last year, as I took my point & shoot Kodak, but still got some nice holiday photo's, next time I'm taking the Nikon.
