I use mainly "Nikkor" lenses "Nikon is the body, and I did compare it with my 80-400 NANO which has a much better build quality but more expensive

It also uses more plastic and is not weather/ dust sealed unlike the 80-400 and Sigma

I had to laugh as Ken Rockwell who under "Quality" says "Made in China"

"Many" is a gross exaggeration of reality Sad
A small number were recalled - for a "defect" which several owners of one in the serial number range said on the web they could not induce.
The issue could only occur if zooming while using AF when AF could stop working but could quickly be restarted by reapplying first pressure to the shutter butter.

Ok some, a few, the quantity "many" will depend on the overall quantity, if 100 are made 20 could be described as many, if 10,000 are made the same 20 could be described as a few, big deal. I will remember to be accurate in my English for you fom now on.

You can check the Nikon link yourself https://nikoneurope-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/65374
The 5th October link identified 40 out of an unknown number of the 200---- series serial number at 5th October, but greater than 7590 and likely greater than 10,000 by now.
Roland Vink's site identifies 6678 sold from the 600---- series serial number
40 from 16,678 (or more) with a minor issue could easily have been checked before making your comment.

I thought that Ephotozine had done a test on this lens, but damned if I can find it.

I don't suppose you found any further views on the lens,
How do you think it compares with the 150-600 lens you are using ?
cheers....Mike

I've read a couple of reviews but must say i'm very happy with the Tamron, especially hand held. It was a toss up between that and the Sigma however they didn't have the Sigma in stock Smile

I look forward to seeing your shots and reading your views on the lens; I much prefer user reviews i.e. from people who have actually used the lens rather than manufacturer's blurb and rife speculation.

Peter.

Me too Peter. I call it a real world review. I read most of the user comments on BHPhoto.com, the superstore in New York; usually lots of user reviews on everything there.
