The haze on the rear screen has completely gone. using the silica gell packs in a sealed plastic bag over a few weeks cleared the screen. This is not an uncommon problem with this model Nikon D300 and this fix is a lot cheaper than sending away to be dismantled to clean/replace the screen.

The rear screen on my - rarely used - D300 works intermittently. Has anyone else experienced the problem and can suggest a fix? I guess sending it in for repair is probably not economically viable.

Do you have the latest version A 1.11 and B1.11?
It could be down to the internal battery not holding its charge which is what I would suspect first or bad contact between en-el battery and camera contact

Opps no internal battery my mistake . so it looks like just bad contact as in video. Sorry to mislead you

Well actually that's helped! It just seems to be a bad battery contact.
