It has definitely been around in prototype versions.

Prototypes do not always make it into full production

It is a very safe bet Nikon (and Canon) will introduce new pro level bodies in time for next years Olympics in Japan.

Won't Nikon be anxious to iron out the snags in the D6 before the Olympics?

Assuming its still an action-oriented DSLR, then a few more fps - perhaps 14 - 20? would be a good start; Would continuous live view be present on the faster fps settings?
Also the usual tweeks of a few more MPx is likely 24 to 30Mp ? and better DR/ISO performance.
Perhaps a faster 1/16,000 shutter speed and a faster flash sync would be neat differentiators.
Will it use faster dual memory cards too for faster frame rate and MP needs? And might a flip out live view screen allow new shooting viewpoints.

"wishing for" - that its 5.99 or free with cornflakes Wink

I am a bit behind with modern technology but thought 5G was something to do with mobile telephones' connectivity to the world !

So, will the D6 also be a mobile telephone ?
Apple, Samsung etc. will surely be worried about that Sad

IBIS possibly for the first time in a DSLR, is a near certainty.
Cfast cards (the fastest) capability as they are now on sale.
Probably 24 MP (enough for a pro sports body) and even better high ISO seems likely.
Thom Hogan still rates the D5 AF as a little ahead of the very best Sony or Canon.
The D6 AF is likely to improve on D5 AF.
Delivery maybe as early as January - though likely initial priority to Nikon Pro users.
It is likely to have more front to back depth to accommodate IBIS.
Launch price (without street discount for some time) maybe around 6,500.

The 120-300 f2.8 may have twin AF motors and Arneo coating, first seen seen from Nikon in the S lens range.

What, pray, is IBIS? Apart from a French hotel chain!

In Body Image Stabilisation - micro realtime adjustments of the sensor to compensate for camera shake. Like IS/VR/OS on a lens.It gives you sharper images at slower shutter speeds for stationary/slow moving objects.

Yes, but in addition to wifi connectivity (like smart devices that connect to your wifi) you can connect directly to the pnone network just as ipads and tablets can do, so you can connect to social media or cloud account or news and sports websites and their servers, good for backups and for news and sports photographers. %g would be needed for the speed and volume of data. Patents are already out there.
