Noises made by 70-200mm f/2.8 GM lens

Hello everyone!
Hope you are doing well!
Im a new Sony shooter coming over from many years with Nikon. Im shooting with an A7riv and a 70-200mm f/2.8 GM lens most of the time and have noticed sounds coming from my lens when it is hunting in low light in AF-C.
Here is what happens:
In low light if I am in AF-C I will at times find the lens hunting wildly to gain focus. When it cannot sustain focus it will pulsate and make kind of a thumping noise as it tries to achieve focus. Sometimes i will notice the box turning green, then back to red and purple while it continues making this shifting, light thumping pulsating sound.
The sound per se doesn't really bother me nor does the hunting. Im assuming that when shooting in low light in AF-C mode that this is going to happen. In order to combat this I will switch to AF-S or AF-A and also attempt to use a low power flash light or AF Assist to help the camera attain focus.
My concern is that Im wondering if this is normal for the 70-200 GM lens.
The lens is super sharp and I really like it, but wasn't quite sure if this warrants a call to Sony support to see what they say.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I appreciate your expertise and opinions!
Best to you,
Rick

The FE 55 makes similar noises. Some of the lenses can work in a quieter mode but take a little longer to focus. If you switch to movie mode, leaving your other settings the same, is it quieter?
Is there a focus limiter switch on the lens to limit how far it hunts, many telephotos like that have them.

Thanks so much Chris! I appreciate it. I will give it a try in movie mode and see what happens.
Ive noticed it only makes the noise when it is hunting back and forth for focus in low light. Otherwise no notable noise.
best,
Rick
